Need more speed? Meet the Quickie Shark S®, the new competitive handbike from Sunrise Medical. Similar in design to its cousin the Quickie Shark, the Shark S is specifically designed for the serious competitive hand-cyclist. Using a special new ultra-lightweight frame that is supported by an internal cellular reinforcement-structure, the Shark S delivers superior balance and response. If a precision racing-machine is what your are after, the Shark S is the ticket.
 
Multiple Backrest Types
Whether you're an amputee who wants to get your weight up and over the hand cranks or a low-level quad who needs plenty of trunk support, the Shark S can meet your needs. The Shark S features a low profile block-style backrest for riders who involve their entire torso in the propulsion process (shown in picture). For hand-cyclists who need greater trunk stability, an ergonomically designed multi-adjustable contour back is available that adjusts to any angle between 30° and 90°. (See Quickie Shark page.)
 
Adjustable Arm-Crank
The one-piece frame profile is designed to meet the stringent standards required for both amateur and professional competition. Using a "Y" shaped connecting-weld between the fork and frame, along with a special internal reinforcement structure, the Shark is able to deliver superior efficiency and better overall propulsion.
 
Shimano® Gearing
The Shark S features Shimano® racing gearing, known world-wide as a premiere racing derailleur and gearing manufacturer. The Shimano Ultegra derailleur system provides highly sensitive and accurate shifting. It offers a finger-flip shifter that riders can activate with one finger. For those who wish to avoid getting caught between gears, Shimano is the ultimate competitive solution.
 
Stiff Frame-Connection
The one-piece frame profile is designed to meet the stringent standards required at both amateur and professional competitions. Using a "Y" shaped connecting-weld between the fork and frame, along with a special internal reinforcement structure, the Shark is able to deliver superior efficiency and better overall propulsion.
 
The Shark S features an adjustable rear axle-sleeve that provides riders the choice between 20" and 26" rear wheels. The 20" diameter wheels are best suited for narrow winding tracks that demand greater maneuverability. The 26" wheels are best suited for straight fast tracks. Either way, this versatile axle-sleeve is up to the task.

 
The Quickie Shark S offers two different gearing packages. Racers can choose between a 26/36/48 tooth package, usually used for hilly race courses, and a 30/42/52 tooth package that is more popular on fast flat courses.

 
For individuals using a heavily reclined backrest, an optional neck support is available. This support matches the curvature of the rider's lower neck, providing additional support for long rides.

 
Interested in a stylish bike? The Shark offers a selection of standard, glossy and matt frame finishes. In total, there are over 26 different frame colors to choose from.

 
The Shark S features a special customizable V-style crank. By specifying the width and depth of the crank arms, racers can maximize their mechanical leverage and avoid unnecessary interference with their bodies. This same crank comes with two different diameter crank-handles to accommodate differences in hand strength and dexterity.

 
Safety is an important focus in any high-speed product. This is why the Shark S features optional front and rear protection plates. These carbon-fiber plates protect riders from mud and dirt spraying off the chains, as well as protecting their arms and legs from the gear mechanisms.
