My son got this scooter when he was 1 1/2 years old. He fell in love with it right away, although he couldn't ride it by himself. I would just have him stand on it while I held onto his hands and drove him around. It didn't take long, however, until he was trying to do it by himself. It is fairly stable, considering it has 3 big wheels on it, so he didn't tip it over too much. He is now 22 months old, and riding it all around the house by himself! He learned how to push with one foot, and is getting better at steering. It has definitely taught him some hand-eye coordination! I never would have bought a scooter for him at this age, but I ended up getting it from my neighbor. Her husband bought it for their 9 year old, and it is way to small for someone that age. I didn't think he would learn how to ride it so quickly, but I think it's great that he did :) He always watches the older boys outside riding their scooters, and now he's big enough to join them. He's very proud of himself, and so are we!!

Bought this as a First Scooter for my 6 year old boy. Picture shows a boy that appears the same size as my son, however, once we got it, just before Christmas, and opened the box to set it up under the tree, discovered that it is quite small. Although it appears well made and sturdy, it is more appropriate for a 2 or 3 year old.
